Montego 1999

In Response To: Sundance Spas (-)

Sundance stopped making the Montego shortly after 1999, but it's basically the same thing as the Bahia (their Sweetwater brand), but with the air blower system and a few other features.
Let me start with the dealer- All Seasons Spas in Hilliard, Ohio. If you're in the central Ohio area, you owe it to yourself to check them out (online at www.allseasonsspas.net). Mike, our salesperson, was extremely informative and helpful. He didn't just sell us a spa and ask us where to deliver it- he talked over a variety of installation ideas, helped us plan out a deck, and even recommended a local deck builder and electrician to hook it up! The deck delivery and installation went like clockwork. I'd definitely recommend them.
Anyway, about the spa. My wife and I decided to get a spa because both of us have stressful jobs that keep us on our feet all day. In wet testing, jets that massaged our legs and feet were a must. I had also done a fair amount of research, and read that many people buy spas with lounges, and then end up not using them- second time spa buyers usually buy spas without loungers. With those ideas in mind, we tried out Sundance, Marquis, and Dimension One. While all had their benefits, we definitely liked the foot dome in the Sundance, and the lack of lounges was a plus (we found that we floated out of all the lounges we tried).

That was March of 2000. More than five years later, I think our spa was one of the best purchases we've made. The Sundance has been completely reliable, and extremely easy to use. However, I'd do the following things differently:
1) Get more rotating jets! I've found that the TYPE of jet makes all the difference. The rotating jets in our Sundance are wonderful, but the non-rotating jets really don't do anything for us, especially after you're in the seat for a few minutes. I'd wet test each seat for at least 5-10 minutes to make sure I really like it.
2) I'd make sure that a spa has a "massage seat" for each person who's going to use the spa. In our case, the Montego has one really good massage seat, and my wife and I have to take turns using it. The other three seats are basically useless. Wet test your spa with everyone who's going to use it often, and make sure you find a spa that has a "favorite" seat for everyone.
3) Try all the options. I thought I wouldn't care about having the SunScents aromatherapy, but now that I have it I really enjoy it. Especially Jasmine.
4) Get a cover lift! Those covers get heavy as they get old and waterlogged.
