Cape Cod/2004

In Response To: Down East by Master Spas (-)

We bought our Cape Cod last year at a special show. I'm not sure if it is a 2004 or a 2005 new model. We were shopping around, but couldn't really come to terms with the prices. If the spa was reasonable, it really had no features and vice versa--until we found the Cape Cod. This spa is great. It came with everything--yes, everything. Included in the price were steps, a cover, a cover-lifter, delivery and set-up (except the electrician), starter chemicals, the ozonator, two pumps, a light, and 57 jets. All we had to do was build a platform for it, get an electrician and have it wired, and fill it with water.

The spa is very nice. It seats six people comfortably, and the footwell is large enough for several people to sit and not bump toes. The only problem I have is that I am only 5'1", and I had to buy an underwater cushion for the corner seats.

The chemicals took getting used to. I finally figured out the proper amount and timing after trial and error. It seems that the Eco-pur filter works SO WELL that it removes all chlorine levels after about 4 days. I've worked out a schedule for Sundays and Wednesdays.

Cleaning the spa is very simple. The cover keeps out all debris, and I just use a clean cloth and water/ammonia mixture to keep the shell clean around the edges and at the water line. This does not effect the water at all. The controls also displays codes to remind you to check your chemicles, filters, and even when to change the water or clean the cover. The drain valve is convenient, and the water drains to about four inches in the foot well. I just remove that with a wet vac.

We live in the south, so we have to turn the heater down in the summer; but last winter (yes, we get cold winters too!) the heater worked beautifully, and I didn't see an increase in our electric bills of more than a few dollars a month. The cover is a great insulator and the heater doesn't have to run as much as I thought it would. The spa is outside in the elements, and the cover and vinyl exterior shell still look brand new. The cushions pop off for quick and easy cleaning, and they still look new too.

My husband and I are very pleased with the spa, and have decided to upgrade in 2-3 years--and yes, we will probably buy another Down-East spa--only this time, we will splurge and get the lounge, and the sound/tv system. The quality, service, warranty, and features are a great deal.
