I purchased a Hawkeye Manufacturing hot tub model Enterprise on the 13Jan08 at the Monroeville Expo Mart.
Our tub was to be delivered on the 22Jan08, But the delivery driver, Bob Kurtz called and stated he would not be
When I purchased the tub they did not tell me it would not be coming directly to me but to another show. I called
The tub was delivered on the Jan26,2008. I unwrapped the tub and there was an inch of water in the foot wells
I filled the tub on26May08, the tub had 5 leaks that I repaired myself. They were running leaks coming out of loose joints at the jets that were fairly easy to get to. I also found a small seep on the bottom of the tub and wasn’t sure if it was just wet insulation from the other leaks. Also at this time I noticed the stereo subwoofer had not been installed as per the sales order. I waited two weeks to see if the seep had stopped to notify Hawkeye about the leak, subwoofer, and the owners manual. I called Hawkeye on 9Jun08and talked to rep Joe Burkle. He informed me that he would send an owners manual that day. He gave me the name and # of their service contractor in Pittsburgh to get the leaks fixed. He also said my tub does not come with a subwoofer even though it is on my sales order. I contacted Baker services in Etna, Pa to have the leak corrected and they informed me that they have a $65.00 trip fee to repair the problem. I informed them this tub is brand new and was filled for the first time 2 weeks prior and that there is a 2 year warranty on the entire tub. Bakers rep (Mary 412-782-2405 ext 13) apologized but said this was Hawkeyes policy and that I would have to contact them to get it waived. I contacted Hawkeye on 23Jun08 and spoke to Joe Burkle again, and informed him of my problem. He said there was not anything he could do pertaining to the leaks or subwoofer, But that he could get me an owners manual right away. I explained to him that the leaks were either a result of poor manufacturing QC (leak checks) or the fact they allowed the lines to freeze when it was delivered. He told me sorry but I would have to pay the service charge. This company seems like it’s a little shady . Although the tub is beautiful, the workmanship is fine, and they use quality parts. They leave you hanging after the sale. Also the bait and switch tactic they use when advertising the subwoofer and not installing it is wrong. I have filed a complaint with the BBB of Virginia and the Office of Consumer Affairs Attorney General of the state of Virginia Thank you for listening to me vent, John T. Miller
